This restaurant and pub cleaning checklist helps Glasgow venue managers prepare for a recurring cleaning contract. Use it during a site visit to agree which areas are included, who handles each task and when the work can happen around service. Keep a copy with the final quotation so you can compare the scope as well as the price.
1. List the areas and the tasks for each visit
Walk through the venue in the order staff and customers use it. A description such as “clean the bar” can mean different things to different people. Record the surfaces, the task and the expected finish, then separate routine work from periodic work.
- Entrance and dining areas: agreed floor cleaning, accessible surfaces, internal glass and presentation checks.
- Bar and service areas: agreed counters, external surfaces and floor areas, with stock and equipment responsibilities clearly assigned.
- Washrooms: fixtures, floors, bins and consumable checks; record who supplies replacements.
- Staff and delivery areas: agreed floors, high-contact surfaces and waste collection points.
- Kitchen areas: specify the agreed floors and accessible surfaces. Confirm any equipment, food-contact surfaces or specialist work separately with the venue manager.
2. Match frequency to the venue’s routine
Record opening days, busy periods and the gap between closing and the next service. Mark tasks by visit, weekly or at another agreed interval. Give periodic work its own schedule so it is easy to check when it was last completed. A change in opening hours or a large event is a reason to review the brief.
3. Agree access and handover responsibilities
- Name the person who opens the venue or authorises key and alarm access.
- Agree the arrival window, completion time and the contact to use if access is unavailable.
- Confirm which areas the venue team clears before cleaning begins.
- Record where equipment can be kept and which supplies each party provides.
- Agree how the venue is secured and how completed work is reported.
Share security instructions through an agreed private channel. The initial quote request only needs the postcode, venue type, frequency and preferred access window; alarm codes are not needed in the website form.
4. Separate the initial deep clean from maintenance
A venue being taken over may need an initial deep clean before the regular checklist starts. Record that initial scope separately from the recurring visits, including any exclusions. Extreme Cleaning offers deep cleaning when taking a commercial premises into ongoing maintenance, or as planned work within an existing contract.
5. Compare quotes against the same checklist
Check the included areas, service days, supplies, periodic tasks and arrangements for additional work. Ask how issues will be reported and when the first review will happen. A useful quotation gives the manager a clear way to tell whether the agreed tasks have been delivered. Avoid comparing headline prices for different scopes.
